Strum and Structure
Warm up your winter with a program that blends energy, wit, and elegance. Jessie Montgomery’s Strum kicks things off with driving rhythms and shimmering textures that practically dance off the strings. Haydn’s Quartet Op. 33, No. 3 (“The Bird”) brings his trademark humor and charm, with playful chirps woven into the music. Beethoven’s Quartet No. 10 in E-flat Major closes the night in grand style, balancing joy and refinement.
Fun fact: This is one of Beethoven’s most lyrical quartets, sometimes called the “Harp” because of the plucked effects that sparkle like strings being strummed — tying us back to Montgomery’s Strum!
