Cadence Chamber Music
Join violinist John Schultz, pianist Jeannie Yu, and cellist Stefan Kartman for an evening of exceptional chamber music spanning the Baroque to the late Romantic era. The program opens with J.S. Bach’s Suite No. 2 in D minor for Solo Cello, a work of profound introspection and architectural clarity that showcases the expressive depth and technical command of the cello in its purest form.
The atmosphere shifts into the lush, soaring lyricism of Sergei Rachmaninov’s Sonata for Piano and Cello in G minor, where piano and cello intertwine in sweeping melodies, shimmering textures, and dramatic interplay. Written at the height of Rachmaninov’s early maturity, the sonata is at once intimate and symphonic in scale.
Following intermission, the trio unites for Johannes Brahms’ Piano Trio in C minor, Op. 101, one of his most concise and fiery chamber works. With its driving rhythmic energy, tender lyricism, and exhilarating finale, the trio stands as a testament to Brahms’ mastery of form and emotional depth.
