CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – You may have seen the news, Orchestra Iowa needs your help to raise funds and Maestro Tim’s spirit.
Our beloved celesta – which has brought our community holiday cheer for many, many years with its angelic, charming sound – is now, sadly, broken beyond repair.
You recognize the celesta in unforgettable musical moments like “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” in the Nutcracker and “Hedwig’s Theme” in the magical film scores of Harry Potter.
The celesta also performs in 9 of our 14 Masterworks, Pops, and Partner Productions in our upcoming season! It’s a critical piece of the musical puzzle.
We need your help to put the pieces together.
The cost of a new celesta is over $60,000. These special instruments are handmade by just one artisan company in the world. And they’re located in Germany. But, a new celesta will last a lifetime!
If we all come together, we can raise the money needed to purchase a new celesta, boost Maestro Tim’s spirit, and kick off the 2024-25 Season with an enchanting new celesta!
The celesta is the unsung hero of the symphony, but we’re taking it center stage in this time of need. Every donation, no matter how small, will help bring festive cheer this year and for decades to come.
Won’t you join us to make Maestro Tim’s wishes come true?
For just $1,000, you can donate a key on the new celesta. All key purchases receive a very special ‘note of thanks’.
And hey, it’s Christmas in July, so why not spread the holiday joy? Buy a key in honor of friends and family now and share this once-in-a-lifetime gift with them in December.
and the 2024-25 Orchestra Iowa season!
