Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Orchestra Iowa is pleased to announce the overwhelming success of our Celesta Fundraiser, which raised over $65,000 to purchase a much-needed celesta for the orchestra. Over 130 individuals donated towards our goal with gifts ranging from $5 to $10,000. Support came from all over the country from as far as Maryland and Hawaii!
“I’m thrilled to see the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City communities unite with such enthusiasm to support Orchestra Iowa’s mission,” said Orchestra Iowa CEO Eric Marshall. “Their generous contributions have made it possible for us to acquire a new celesta, an instrument that will enhance countless concerts and inspire audiences for years to come. It’s another reminder of the unwavering support and commitment to the arts that is constantly on display in the Corridor!”
The new celesta debuted opening weekend, September 14 & 15, with Orchestra Iowa’s Masterworks I: A Night on the Town. You can also hear the iconic sound of this beautiful new instrument at our Pops concerts: The Music of Harry Potter (October 26) playing ‘Hedwig’s Theme’, Home Alone: Film with Live Orchestra (November 16 &17), and The Nutcracker (December 7), playing ‘Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy’.
Orchestra Iowa extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making this fundraiser a resounding success.
