Meet the Performers:
Luke Sanders Trio ft. Luke Sanders (guitar), Michael Gedden (bass), Jeremiah de la Peña (drums).
Luke Sanders is an active Eastern Iowa guitar player based in Waterloo. Luke is the jazz band director and guitar instructor at Wartburg College in Waverly, and is concurrently the guitar instructor at Luther College in Decorah.
Michael Gedden is a bass player originally from Johnston, IA. After completing a degree in jazz studies at UNI, Michael relocated to Kansas City where he maintains an active performance schedule.
Jeremiah de la Peña is originally from Palatine, IL. Jeremiah got his degree in percussion performance from Coe College. After Coe, Jeremiah moved back to Chicago to perform regularly throughout the midwest.
The trio will be playing a curated selection of originals and some works by guitar favorites like Bill Frisell, Jim Hall, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Julian Lage

What better way to start each month, than an evening of jazz at the Opus Concert Café. Offering an eclectic mix of the Corridor’s best jazz soloists and ensembles, each month features a new musical talent and their tribute to the genre that has defied the eras.
2 Hours of Jazz from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.
For only a $12 cover charge, guests can enjoy an evening of hot jazz in the coolest venue in town. Doors open at 4:30 PM and music begins at 5:00 PM. Running a bit late? No worries! Jazz 88.3 KCCK live broadcasts the first hour of every concert.

At First Friday Jazz, we want you to have a good time, celebrate with friends, and unwind into your weekend. The Opus Concert Café serves a wide array of liquid libations that are the perfect pairing to your jazz infused musical entrée of the evening.
