After evaluating all possible scenarios, the Cedar Rapids Opera Board of Directors has made the difficult but unanimous decision to cancel our January production of Così fan tutte. With COVID infections steeply rising, the incredibly transmissible nature of the omicron variant, the complexities of housing artists safely in volunteers’ homes, positive cases within our company and vacancies on our production team, it’s become evident that creating a production that meets both our artistic and safety standards has become impossible. This was an incredibly difficult decision and arrived at only after exhausting every possible effort to keep the promise of opera at the Paramount alive. The creativity, resilience and resourcefulness of this production team has been so inspiring, and we hope to share their talents with you in the future.
Così fan tutte ticketholders, including Orchestra Iowa subscribers, are asked to complete this short survey to help our staff manage this cancellation in the days ahead.
