Position Summary

Orchestra Iowa is seeking a savvy, arts-oriented individual to solicit and manage new and existing ad sales for Orchestra Iowa’s Overture magazine. This position is a part-time hourly and commission-based opportunity. Overture is a quarterly publication that serves as the Orchestra’s concert program guide and contains additional special interest stories, a kids’ corner, and other content. It is provided to all patrons who attend Orchestra Iowa concerts in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City locations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Meet or exceed ad sales goals set by Orchestra Iowa management
• Secure graphics from advertisers in a timely manner for inclusion in Overture
• Increase exposure of Overture advertising possibilities throughout the Corridor and beyond
• Create positive working relationships with new and existing organizations, businesses, and individuals that advertise in Overture
• Communicate effectively about Orchestra Iowa to potential advertisers
• Work closely with Orchestra Iowa Development team to identify conversion opportunities
• Attend an occasional meeting in the OI offices

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Effective sales skills and superior communication skills
• At least 1 year of prior sales experience preferred
• Must be comfortable making cold calls
• Entrepreneurial attitude and a proven self-starter with follow-through
• Must have a passion for the performing arts and desire to bring them to Iowa audiences
• Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
