Piano Teacher/Music Together Instructor

The Orchestra Iowa School was established in 1986 to provide high quality instruction to music students in the greater Cedar Rapids area. Over the years, the school has expanded to include many facets of music education including early childhood programs, choral and instrumental chamber ensembles, music therapy, and individual instruction on nearly all instruments. School faculty is made up of many of Eastern Iowa’s most gifted educators, including Orchestra Iowa musicians.

OI School is seeking a dynamic music professional who can provide individual and group piano lessons and be willing to learn and teach Music Together curriculum. The ideal candidate will have a passion for music education and the proven ability to run and manage a private lesson studio of varying abilities and ages. Hours are part-time/ flexible during the week, depending on scheduling needs.


  • Provide weekly private piano lessons for students
  • Successfully manage all aspects of piano studio: communication, schedule, etc
  • Coordinate and execute student recitals and performances
  • Provide group piano lessons
  • Provide input and insight to group piano curriculum creation
  • Teach Music Together sessions: OI School will cover the cost of training for this curriculum


  • Must have demonstrable experience teaching and running a private piano studio
  • Must have demonstrable piano playing skills
  • Music degree is preferred, but not required
  • Must be able to work with many skill levels and age levels
  • Must be reliable and responsible
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Must have the ability to teach and work with diverse populations
  • Must have a passion for the arts

Compensation is competitive, commensurate with experience
