Marketing Director

Marketing Director plays a very important role at Orchestra Iowa and is responsible for developing and implementing multi-channel promotional strategies that support a positive brand identity that achieve Orchestra Iowa’s concert attendance, ticket sales, and other earned revenue goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing & Sales

  • Create and implement subscription, single ticket, and special event sales campaigns through digital marketing, direct mail, print and mass media, and grassroots efforts
  • Design email and social media content strategies in coordination with Marketing Committee and implement the development and distribution of content
  • Maintain and update website content and design using SilverStripe software
  • Oversee production of the digital program guide and distribution processes
  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and strategies
  • Collaborate with the Artistic team to develop accessible promotional language
  • Collaborate with the Development team to negotiate media sponsorships and group packages that develop strong institutional relationships with corporate partners
  • Create and distribute collateral that increases Opus Concert Café’s use as a corporate rental and other community uses
  • Explore, recommend, develop, and implement merchandising opportunities
  • Conduct patron research, analyze results/trends, and prepare recommendations
  • Negotiate contracts with outside vendors, including media partners, graphic designers, printers, etc., and regularly evaluate their work

Public Relations & Communications

  • Create and reinforce the institution’s brand portfolio, including Orchestra Iowa, Orchestra Iowa School, and Opus Concert Café and ensure consistent delivery of message and style
  • Oversee the publication of all printed material, as well as the creation of all digital messaging
  • Communicate with a broad range of constituencies including the media, serving as an official spokesperson for the organization as needed
  • Represent Orchestra Iowa at performances, events, and in the community

Administrative

  • Assist the CEO, CFO and Board in establishing appropriate ticket sales and event goals; prepare regular reports and projections
  • Serve as part of the management team in assisting the CEO in implementing the organization’s strategic goals
  • Maintain a master marketing and communications calendar
  • Actively participate in and implement strategies of appropriate Board committees
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent with one to three years of marketing and/or public relations experience
  • Prior experience with performing arts and/or events-based marketing preferred
  • Superb written, verbal, and organizational skills
  • Extraordinary time management skills
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Diplomacy in handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and personnel, achieving success within a fast-paced work environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Design Suite and Tessitura (or other CRM database)

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience working for an organization in performing arts is a plus
  • Passion for the arts and their vital role in enhancing the quality of life is a must
  • Knowledge of Tessitura or similar donor and ticketing database

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary: $45,000.00 – $51,000.00 per year; full-time position
