Position Title: Overture Magazine Advertising Sales
Status: Part-Time, Commission
Position Summary:
Orchestra Iowa is seeking a savvy, arts oriented individual to manage new and existing ad sales for Orchestra Iowa’s Overture Magazine throughout the Eastern Iowa Corridor and beyond. Overture Magazine is a quarterly program that is available to all patrons who attend Orchestra Iowa concerts.


  • Meet or exceed ad sales goals determined by Orchestra Iowa
  • Increase exposure of Overture advertising possibilities throughout the Corridor and beyond
  • Create positive working relationships with new and existing organizations and individuals that partner to advertise in Overture
  • Communicate effectively about Orchestra Iowa to potential advertisers in Overture
  • Work closely with Orchestra Iowa Development department to identify important conversion opportunities
  • Other duties may be assigned

  • At least 2 years face to face customer service experience required
  • At least 2 years of sales experience required


  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects at one time
  • Must be detail-oriented, well-organized, and a self-starter
  • Must be able to work well with many types of people
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Love for the arts a plus


  • Will require periods of driving to and from potential Overture partners
  • This position is an hourly position with a commission structure
  • Dress is professional
  • Position requires some hours in the Orchestra Iowa office, to be determined by Orchestra Iowa

Founded in 1921, Orchestra Iowa is widely recognized as the state’s premier symphony orchestra. Its 68
professional musicians showcase their artistic excellence through more than 180 classical, ballet, opera,
popular, chamber and educational performances each season, many of which are heard on Iowa Public
Radio and seen on Iowa Public Television. Orchestra Iowa currently has an annual operating budget of
$3 million, operates under a collective bargaining agreement with the American Federation of Musicians
and is a member of the League of American Orchestras (Group 3) and the Regional Orchestra Players
Association (ROPA).
