Orchestra Iowa presents more than 200 symphonic, ballet, opera, chamber music, musical theater, popular and education concerts each season, and teaches more than 400 students through the Orchestra Iowa School.

Orchestra Iowa, based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, offers a per-service wage commensurate with experience(minimum start of $182 per service). A new scale for 2019-2020 is currently being negotiated. In addition to eighty guaranteed services per year, additional employment is offered through the Orchestra Iowa School.

Orchestra Iowa is a member of the League of American Orchestras (Group 4),
the Regional Orchestra Players Association and has a collective bargaining agreement
with the American Federation of Musicians, Local 137.

General Conditions of Employment
Winning candidate must be eligible to work in the United States at the time of the audition and will be required to provide proof of eligibility. Due to the nature of working in public school district facilities, the ability to pass a background check is required of this position.

About the Audition
Live auditions will take place at Ganz Hall, Roosevelt University 430 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL on Saturday, September 7, 2019.

To be considered for an audition time, interested applicants must submit the attached application form, a one-page resume and a $50 audition deposit no later than August 28, 2019. Applicants will receive the audition deposit back upon check-in or upon cancelling prior to September 5. Applicants will receive an audition confirmation on September 5. Please verify that we have a valid email address and mobile number.

Each applicant will be given a private practice room at least 30 minutes prior to their audition.

Preliminary and Semi-Final round auditions will be held behind a screen. The Audition Committee reserves the right to dismiss immediately any candidate not meeting the highest standards.

The Final round will take place without a screen. Additionally, Concertmaster finalists may be invited to perform with the Orchestra during the 2019-2020 season.

It is anticipated that the winner of this audition will be announced by June 30, 2020 and that they will begin employment with Orchestra Iowa beginning September 1, 2020.
